Please ignore how ghostly pale I am, the sun clearly did me zero favours. I've decided to go all out red here - not something I've ever tried before but I think it kinda works? The stripes on the midi skirt and pop of blue help to break all the red up.

How To | Salon Ready Blue Ombre

how to do colourful blue ombre, salon ready professional ombre at home, how to dye your hair blue, blue hair, blue hair dye, blue ombre, arctic fox poseidon

For Bestival I really wanted bright blue and pink ombre. Usually I would just brave it and give it a go myself, but I wanted it to look half decent. Silly me went to my usual hairdressers. Don't get me wrong, they're very good at normal hairdresser stuff like styling and dying hair natural colours, but blues and pinks? Not so much. The colour just wasn't right, and she shampooed my hair after the dye to help wash it out. Even a hair dye noob like me knows that's a schoolboy error. So as you can imagine, it wasn't as bright and fun as I would have liked.

Yes, I've still got the craving for a nice deep coloured ombre. I thought I would just give it a go myself, and tell ya'll how I got there. I have to say, I'm pretty impressed with my skillz here. A much more impressive attempt than my 16 year self trying to get it the whole lot pastel lilac and failing miserably... Although, I do have some super high quality 385763mp webcam pics where it does look pretty good.

My dye of choice was Arctic Fox 'Poseidon', which I got on Amazon for just under a tenner. I know you can get brands of dyes which are cheaper, but I've heard such good reviews of Arctic Fox so thought I would make the splurge. I also added a little dab of pink dye (*Live Colour XXL 'Raspberry Rebel') to really bring out the blue dye.

To apply, all I did was split my hair (washed and dried) down the middle so I had half down each side of my chest. I massaged the dye into my hair using my fingers (I gave the brush a good attempt but just couldn't get along with it), and when I reached the point where I wanted it to start fading into the blonde, I used my fingers to tease the dye already on my hair up a tad. So there's barely any dye on these bits of hair, but just enough to create a nice fade effect. Soz if I explained that all really badly.

In terms of waiting for it to take, I left it on for half an hour. I also decided to wrap each side up in foil to create, what I like to call, foil sausages. I also blitzed the hair dryer over each one for a few minutes as heat helps the dye take to your hair...apparently...

P.S. Don't be a fool like me and forget to only shampoo. Clever clogs over here conditioned as well as putting argon oil on. I then realized that mistakes had been made so had to rewash it!

I think I've mentioned this in a previous post, but I'm really getting into colour. I just love colour now. I love wearing colourful clothes, I'm enjoying finding colourful backdrops for blog photos. This is like, a new side to me that's revealing itself. Back in day, I was obsessed with monochrome or all black outfits, and if I was to wear colour it would either be dark like navy or burgundy, or a little pop of bright or pastel. And in terms of blog photos, a brick wall or plain street was ma thing. Now I just need all the colour.

Two years ago I can imagine I would have thought that mixing green, yellow and a pop of red in one outfit would look ridiculous, but I dunno man, right now I think it's the coolest thing ever. Tbf as well, a mini skirt and ringer tee combo does make for a cute outfit.

Autumn 2016 Outfit Wishlist | Topshop

Anyone else been liking the tee under a slip dress trend? I didn't like it too much at first, but it has kind of grown on me. I haven't had a chance to wear it yet, but when I do I'd like to mix things up a bit with a jumpsuit instead. The neckline and spaghetti straps of this khaki one look a lot like a slip dress, so my instant thoughts were a plain white tee underneath. I'm still all about that 90's grunge life, so I couldn't resist adding a choker into the mix. I'm gonna get all cliche on y'all here, but a think a dark dark berry lip would look perffff with this outfit.

I'm feeling like embroidery is gonna be big this Autumn/Winter. It's just everywhere, and I ain't complaining. These jeans are something like what I would have rocked when I was nine. Although, probably not paired with a velvet top, a velvet jumper (yas to the double velvet) and the most fantastic pair of fluffy boots. I die, they're perfect. Let's face it, jeans and a big cosy jumper is a classic Autumn outfit, but the velvet, embroidery and fluff make it hella more interesting than just ya standard.

This is deffo my fave out of the three. The star stud mini skirt is just a tad out of my price range, but sometimes it's worth spending a bit more on a piece like this, because it's a staple that can be styled in countless different ways. I've gone down the grunge route here (obvs...) with the DM's, fishnets, striped crop and choker. A lot of the time, I think the 'grunge' style is thought of as dark colours and loads of black, but it's so easy to make it a bit more colourful. Literally, all you gotta do is add a choker aha! Can we please take a moment to appreciate the fluffy pink bomber.

That's So 90's

Halter Top - American Apparel via Depop
Mom Jeans - Vintage
Bag - Vintage

I'm back from Bestival and the festival blues have kicked in hard. I really wanted to write up and schedule some posts to go up while I was there but to be honest, I really didn't have the time. Being too busy to be able to put as much time as I would like into my blog makes me dislike my job even more. I started my blog while I was at uni so I had plenty of time to work on it. Since working almost full time, I've really noticed how much less I've been able to grow and develop it. I'm purely working there to save up enough mons to go travelling, and when you're only at a job for the money it can be very draining. I am grateful that I get my Wednesday's off (that literally saves me) but I'm still hating life for the other four days.

Anyway, enough about my shitty job, I didn't mean for this post to turn into a massive rant! I think it's because I'm currently en route to work and dreading the day ahead aha! Let's talk about something more interesting- zee outfit. I've loved 90's inspired fashion for a couple of years now, and a spaghetti halter crop paired with mom jeans shows the style off well good. The bag I actually found in a charity shop for under a fiver. I've seen one similar to it in a vintage shop for 30 quid, so couldn't resist snapping this bargain up.

The Nike's are new in. I first spotted them in Urban Outfitters but tried my best to ignore them because (a) I don't need more trainers and (b) trainers in UO seem to be more expensive than anywhere else. But y'know when you see something in a shop and just can't get it out of ya head? Yeah that. I had a look on the Office website and found the junior ones in the sale for £40!? What a bargain. Anyone else buy trainers in the junior section? If you don't and you're a 5 and a half or under, you need to start now. They're like £20 cheaper. Such a good trick.

This was going to be Bestival outfit #2 (see #1 here), but I tried it on with the flatforms and couldn't resist photographing it like this. It technically still is a Bestival outfit, just obv not with the shoes cos that's ridiculous! Gonna swap them out for my pink Superstars - I'm really embracing this whole 'I love colour' thing atm. Or probably my Docs if the rain decides to join us. Which I really hope it doesn't. I'm hoping to wear the body and skirt together without the jumper during the day. I want to show it off in all it's green and yellow beauty.

The skirt I actually picked up quite a few months ago now for £20, but I have seen it in the sale since then. I found the body in the sale for £7. I honestly couldn't believe my luck. I'd never seen it in Topshop before (and trust me when I say I go in there a lot, and it was not part of the stock), and then a few weeks ago when I was raiding the sale rails, I randomly spotted ONE green and yellow leopard body in my size. Perfect match for my skirt. It's like Topshop knew.
