If you didn't catch last weeks post in my festival series, click here to have a little look.
I remember the first festival I ever attended. Reading 2011, baby. It was a good'un. I saw the likes of Muse, Pulp, Panic! At The Disco and My Chemical Romance (amongst others), who were my fave band at the time. I still have a wall plastered with Gerard Way's face in my room, which I'm not complaining about!
My first festival also meant my first real taste of festival fashion. It returns every summer, and this year coming back stronger than most. The popularity of the style is so widespread. From avid festival goer's, to those who much prefer the luxury of a shower and a clean toilet, everyone seems to be taking part. The style incorporates boho elements from the hippie movement of the 60's. England's own little twist revolves around wellies and Dr Martens to deal with the lovely mud-filled festivals we hold, courtesy of none other than... the rain. Boo.
So in the spirit of it's return, every Monday up until I attend Bestival in September, I am going to be posting an outfit that I deem 'festivally enough' to venture into the world of camping, alcohol and live music.
Sunflower Clip - Claire's
Black Flower Clips - H&M
Crochet Top - Camden Market
Dress - River Island
Boots - Dr Martens
Choker - eBay
Necklace - Primark (Old)
;)
I won't babble on about the tie-dye dress again as I have already featured it in this post, but I thought that the length and generally how comfy it is would be perfect for surviving a festival in. The crochet top thrown over makes it a tad more festival-like, and c'mon, who doesn't love a bit of crochet?
My hair is the main thing I want to talk about today. Five days without any hair washing activity happening means that I am probably going to be wearing it up towards the end. The beehive style seemed perfect seeing as it works best with dirty hair, and it's a little more interesting than just throwing it up into a messy bun of some sort. Plaits are well and truly in at the moment, so two french plaits around each side gave it a little festival touch. I went a bit crazy with the flower hair clips, but then again, why not?
I asked Lewis to write my post today as I was experiencing the joy of writers block, and this is what he came out with. Nice spelling...:
This dress is a pulling machine, literately works every time. Dress along with the choker 100% success rate
i LOVE the crochet top over the dress, it works so well! probably my favourite outfit of yours so far :)

Love the dress - dresses are PERFECT for festivals as you don't get as sweaty as when you're wearing pants and they are just so comfortable in general! People tend to go for shorts as they are 'easy' but I love dresses for festivals and concerts etc!

I love this outfit, the boots are the essential festival item but the dress keeps them well on trend too! Your hair looks lovely like this, beehives are so good with dirty hair like you said, just add loads of dry shampoo and you're sorted haha.
ReplyDeleteI genuinely think your boyfriend should write a blog :p

ReplyDeleteI love this outfit - like you say, it looks "festivally" but it makes a lovely change from denim shorts and wellies. The dress is kind of elegant and edgy at the same time, which I love. And if you can't rock flowers in your hair at a festival then when can you?! x
