The Average Girl's Guide To Festival Style | Crochet, Crochet, Everywhere

Welcome back to my brand spanking new series all about festival style.  If you didn't catch last weeks post, click here to have a little look.

I remember the first festival I ever attended.  Reading 2011, baby.  It was a good'un.  I saw the likes of Muse, Pulp, Panic! At The Disco and My Chemical Romance (amongst others), who were my fave band at the time.  I still have a wall plastered with Gerard Way's face in my room, which I'm not complaining about!

My first festival also meant my first real taste of festival fashion.  It returns every summer, and this year coming back stronger than most.  The popularity of the style is so widespread.  From avid festival goer's, to those who much prefer the luxury of a shower and a clean toilet, everyone seems to be taking part.  The style incorporates boho elements from the hippie movement of the 60's.  England's own little twist revolves around wellies and Dr Martens to deal with the lovely mud-filled festivals we hold, courtesy of none other than... the rain.  Boo.

So in the spirit of it's return, every Monday up until I attend Bestival in September, I am going to be posting an outfit that I deem 'festivally enough' to venture into the world of camping, alcohol and live music.

Does anyone else feel like some sort of boho queen when they wear a head chain?  Or is that just me?  I really love throwing one on though.  They are perfect if you want to capture that boho/festival inspired hair, but aren't feeling transforming your head into a flower patch today...

It's no secret that crochet can give off some serious boho vibes, making it the perfect festival attire.  Not only does it look beautifully delicate against the skin, but the large crochet knit gives easy means to keeping cool whilst your in the sun, excitedly jumping up and down to your fave bands.  Obviously, if your wearing crochet as translucent as mine, your gonna need some sort of underneath layer to avoid awkward underwear situations.  Heavy layering is not an option in the heat, so something light is definitely the way forward.  A dainty triangle bralet would have been my first choice, but alas, I do not own one.  Instead I went for this little crop top with the cute cut out sides.  How perfect!?

I mentioned in my last post that a boho statement necklace will just complete any festival outfit, but once again, a gold statement necklace is not something you would find in my jewellery box (I really need to get my paws on one!), so instead I just piled on a tonne of gold necklaces.  It works almost as well... almost.

And if your venturing off to an English festival, Dr Martens or wellies will be an essential for trudging your way through the mud that results from when it most likely rains.  I'm not a fan of wellies, but my trusty docs will never let me down (I hope!).

  19. I've never been to a festival :/ I love live music and alcohol and festival fashion but I hate camping! I'm a total wimp when I think about those awful toilets and greasy hair. I know it's probably worth it but so far I haven't managed to get past it! Anyway, I love this outfit on you and can't wait to see your next festival outfit :) definitely gonna have to get myself a head chain for the rest of the summer!

Maybe when the end of summer sale comes about I'll give one a go. So jel of you going to Bestival! And I use to obsess over Panic! back in the day hahaha. xxx
